Speakers and panelists included Susan Coale of the Hospice of the Chesapeake, Rev. David Berg from the Chaplain’s office of Anne Arundel Medical Center, Margo Carey of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging, Marge Richmond a lay speaker from the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland Council on Aging Ministry, Fran Blacker of Golden Age Day Care of Bowie, and local clergy Rev. Donald Stewart, Associate Pastor for Senior Ministry of Friendship UMC and Rev. Saundra Cordingley of Christ Episcopal Church in West River.

A Program on Elder Law was presented at Christ Church, West River in May 2008. The program featured three experienced attorneys providing advice on how to avoid or address the legal problems which affect seniors. Robert Bohan, Esq. of Annapolis led the program with a discussion of financial powers of attorney and advance medical directives; wills, trusts and estate planning; and the perils of probate. Lawrence Adashek, Esq continued with a discussion of -Social Security and Medicare—current issues and resources to obtain answers to your questions and assistance. Lisa Marie Sarro, Esq. of the Senior Citizen’s Law Project of the Legal Aid Bureau Inc. discussed lower cost methods of dealing with seniors issues including the Maryland Senior Legal Helpline, the 60-Plus Legal Program and other free and reduced cost legal resources.
The final two speakers were not lawyers but addressed two significant issues with legal ramifications. The first, Robert Ready, of Jacob Dean Mortgage discussed reverse mortgages and Jane Strong, of the Anne Arundel County States Attorney Office, spoke of senior fraud.
